Yesterday, I received the Fall/Winter 2008 Rocky Mountain MC Catalog in my mailbox.
This evening I started scanning through it, looking for ideas of things to ask for as Christmas Gifts. The first few pages of the catalog are filled with pants, jerseys, and gloves.
I get to a page of women's Fox gear - it's got BUTTERFLIES on it. I think to myself "Cute, but not for dirt bike riding." Then I get to the Thor gear - it's pink, it's purple, it's got pretty cursive writing on it. Great... :ugg: But wait, it gets better, the MSR gear has stars on it, and it's called STARLET. WTF? :yell:
Am I going out to ride a dirtbike through the trees, hitting mud puddles, rocks, roots, leaves, you name it...or am I going to a frickin' beauty contest? Do I want to look like a fairy princess out on my bike?
NO - I want to look like a chick that can hang with the guys, ride dirt bikes, and walk away at the end of the day muddy, dusty, whatever, and not give a damn.
So why, oh why, do these manufacturers of women's gear think we all want to look "pretty". I play "pretty" for 40 hours a week - makeup, hair, nails, skirts, high heels, WHATEVER! I don't want to deal with that crap when I'm riding my dirtbike too!
Ugh...Guess I'm sticking with the old gear this year...
:yell: :pissed:
For the record - I have no issue with the fact that this gear is made all pretty pretty. I just wish those of us that don't care for it had more options...
