I'm not a Yankee fan, really. But I think they're a great team. They have a great organization (Steinbrenner excepted), and they play the game right. They're also a great bunch of guys. I really wanted to see them win. I like dynasties; I think they make it more fun. Look at how dreary the NFL has become in these days of parity.
They say to win a World Series you buy two horses and ride them. The D-backs certainly rode Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. Almost rode Schilling too much. I thought Arizona made some stupid pitching decisions, pitching Schilling on three days' rest in game four, and pitching Kim three innings in game four and then bringing him back in game five.
Still, live by the two-out, bottom-of-the-ninth homer, die by it, I guess. The Yankess couldn't make miracles every time. It was a historic series, one of the best I've ever seen. Congratulations, Arizona. Watch out next year, though.
