So my 96 Xr250r needs a rebuild due to no compression. I want to put a wiesco piston in it but I don’t know how good they are. Is a wiesco gona add power? Or am I better off going for the stock one? Also what are some pros and cons about wiescos. I want a bike that I can kick and ride. And how long is it gona last? All suggestions are appreciated. :ride:

Wiseco should have a stock replacement and likely a high compression option or two. They are a bit better quality than stock. As with ANY rebuild make sure you take a minute to measure the piston to cylinder clearance and ring end gap before you button it up and it should last for many years in that XR. Raising the compression may require better fuel and will have slightly shorter life than stock but more torque and response. Be sure to have the valves looked over and check for crank bearing looseness while it's apart. It's much less agrivating to do the job complete the first time than to tear it down two or three times......
