SO....IT175s vs IT200s

Ok, I have narrowed my questions down from what they were. Can you put a 79-83 it175 top end on a 77-78 model bottom end without modification to the main center cases? Or do I dare ask, would an 84-86 it200 top end fit on a 77-78 it175 bottom end without mods? Ive refrenced part numbers and they dont match. Random questions, i know...but I need answers lol. Its for another project im working on. Someone here has to know!

my memory says too diferent, exhaust port direction and height of cylinder and transfer passages for old IT 175 which had chain on the left and newer 175 with chain on the right. I think the crank was all different when changing from 175 to 200 But my memory is cloudy some days

I am pretty sure you cannot put a 82-83 top end on a 77-81 bottom end. The 82-83 take a different piston than any of the other 175's. I did quite a bit of research when I needed a piston for my 82 it175. They "stroked" the motor on the 200's but the piston does not enter-change with a 82-83 IT 175....different part numbers. I have not measured the pistons for comparisons...but I don't think it would work.
