yamaha ttr250

I will soon purchase a dirt bike to start trail riding with my son.A local dealer has a brand new 1999 yamaha ttr250 priced at $3450. I have been leaning towards a xr250 or kdx200. Is the yamaha at that price a good deal. I recently read the dirt rider magazine article on the 4strokes. But i would like to hear some suggestions for a beginner

The TTR 250's are excellent trail bikes. Very comparable to a XR 250. I have owned many XR 250s and now have a TTR 250 also. I prefer the TTR because of the happy button and stock vs stock I prefer the TTR's suspension.......CRX

thanks for the info. but is that a good price for a new 1999 model or should i pay more when the 2002 model comes out

Get the '99. No changes have been made since they first came out, and I don't know of any changes other than BNG's for the '02.
