This was taken in my driveway today!
Must of been a long walk, but hear he's from SoCal!
This pic is nearly actual size!

Wow! You should have saddled that thing up and ridden him around the yard! I'd rather deal with ants and snails than that thing.

The thing about those critters is that they're huge, they're butt ugly, but they're harmless. They still scare the hell outta me though whenever I see one just because they look so damn huge, butt ugly and scary!

Hey Okie, I found his brother when I was riding out in West TX a few weeks back... He wandered into our campsite and we let him go about his business. These things are so big that you can actually see their tracks in the sand.

[Shown next to a cigarette butt to give ya an idea of size...]

Kind of reminds me of an exgirlfriend I used to date. She was better looking of course but had about the same size fangs.

Harmless? Tell that to my Yellow Lab! Everytime he finds a Jerusalem Cricket, the war begins!!
Its a funny site, usually about a 5 minute battle

Here's one not to mess with http://troyb.com/photo/images/photos/019-02-CowKiller.jpg
Never seen one in Oregon but we had 'em in the South. I picked one up and showed to this guy named Bobby Ray down in Cedar Springs, Georgia, and he almost fainted. He started stuttering "Tha, Tha, That, Thats a Cow Killer!!"

That thing is cool!

I guess only the female Velvet Ant stings!
Supposed to hurt so bad it feels like it would kill a cow!
