No luck with KIPS Installed the new governor shaft(lever) and fired the bike up today. Even though I could easily flip the valves open and closed by hand they weren't working very well with the bike running. The valves would try to work but were really sluggish and since I don't want to do a top end right now I pulled the clutch cover back off and was just going to run without the KIPS system for a while. When I got a look at the governor shaft it appeared slightly bent and I did support it properly when tightening the left handed nut. With a little pressure from my thumb I snapped the brand new governor shaft off the plate. The metal where the shaft goes through was highly crystalized and would have quickly broke on its own and probably trashed out my clutch again. Right know the governor assembly and the shafts are in a zip lock bag in my tool box and the KIPS valves are blocked wide open. I may not know what i'm missing but I like the way it runs and I know I don't have that stinking shaft in there just waiting to destroy my bike. Just wanted to give a heads up that a new governor shaft may fall apart faster than the original. It sucks to have such a weak link in an otherwise bullet proof engine.
