I just bought a 2000 YZ 250 and I was wondering what kind of gas milage it gets. If you dont know how many miles then how many hours and what type of riding do you do with it.
The milage is not great. It is also difficult to quote. Obviously, going slower uses a smaller amount of gas. Not trying to be a smart ass!
My bike can usually run for an average of 2.5 hours before I need to fill up again. To convert it to miles per gallon, I believe I could get close to 40 miles on a tank of gas. 2.3 gallons.
I have gone over 50 on my stock ~2 gallon tank. Being jetting correctly helps immensely with the gas mileage. Also, the terrain you are riding matters a lot. Trail riding I can get 50+, but track riding you probably will only get 15-20.
15 mpg is a decent, general rule of thumb. Once again, depending on the riding that you are doing. My experience with 125's is that if ridden at the same ground speed as a 250, will generally get less mpg due to the fact that they have to be ridden more aggressively to go as fast as a larger bike.
