I remember reading something about using a kx 500 impeller on a yamaha yz 400's. Anyone know if this helps it to run cooler. Any other ideas? If so what year kx was this off of? Mine runs hot if I putt around. I have to do alot of that...
thanks

I have not heard that. you can use a KX500 radiator cap, which is a higher pressure and that helps. the cap is listed as an optional part for the KX500 1992-1999 Kawasaki part # is: 49085-1073

400 Impeller

I am pretty sure I've read that Yamaha did an upgrade on the 400 water pump impeller.I can't recall if it was for durability or improved cooling though. Ask your dealer. Jonny 426

For '99 they changed the impeller shaft and seal. The '98s would leak after you put some time on them. The '99 parts work fine on the '98 engines.
