yz footpeg mod

i needed to find some more leg room on my yz (im 6'4") so i tried doing the peg mod by cutting the bottom tube off. i got it cut fine and the left footpeg lines up perfectly but the right side is angled forward, it looks like the part that rests against the frame has a gap when i line it straight like it should be. has anyone else had to mess around with this problem? any help is appreciated. i can take photos if my description is not good enough.
