I've been out of riding since i joined the Marines back in July 2002. I got stationed here in california and want to start riding again. Before I left i had a YZ125 but always thoughtof getting a YZ250F. I've been on an R6 for the last 6 months so i'm not sure if I should get back on a 2 stroke or get a 4 stroke for the dirt too. Any input would be appreciated. thanks

there is a good chance you will like the 250f better, most people do. All depends on your preference, if you plan on keeping it for awhile you might want the 125 back because top ends are easy and very cheap compared to 4strokes. See if you can try one out, thumpers have alot more bottom than the 125's it seems, but the 125 will feel lighter(i think its about 10 pounds).

I just switched to a 4 stroke and it is wonderful. I was also looking for a 250f but got a 426f instead. I was initially worried about it being too much power but it is easily controllable. Power comes on smooth and strong...a lot like a sport bike actually. I'm glad I went with the bigger bike now.

I'm 19, 6' 165 lbs. I started on a YZ80 when i was 12 and got my YZ125 when i was 14. i raced from the time i was 16 until I went into the marines at 18. I plan on staying on a yamaha so any other brand is pretty much out of the question. Price isnt really an issue either

Well I really don't have to much against the YZ250F. In my oppinion you should keep the 125 because its a 2 stroke and would save you the trouble of bike hunting. But if you feel it's too much for you or you want some different power get the 250F. Just get what you want.
