YZ125 Trying to jump into gear

My friend has a '99 YZ125. When it is not in gear, it seems to try to get into gear. The front sprocket starts to turn and the chain slaps the swingarm. I have no idea what this could be. Thanks for any help.

can you be more specific? ie: with the clutch out in neutral? or when the clutch is pulled in?

It does it whenever the clutch is out. In neutral it does it every couple seconds, 1st and 2nd gear it doesnt do it, and 3rd gear it just goes nuts. 5th and 6th dont really do it.
