yz250f front brake disk

a friend has a yz250f, his front brake disk is loose,not the bolts that hold it on, but the rivets that hold the rotor to the carrier. Its supposed to be a floating rotor, but the play is only a little, just enough to notice, the play is not only side to side, but also front to back. The bike has only 3 hours of use and everything looks allright. Is something wrong ? or is this normal.

I also have a new 2002 yz250f. The "floating" part of the rotor also moves how you described above. I am not sure about the horizontal slop, but when I hit the fron brake a small amount of play is definately noticeable. I would also like to know if this is normal. Anybody else have any input on this????????????

It seems normal. Mine and all the others I have looked at have a bit of play in the disc. I worried a bit back in Jan 2001 but disc is the same now.

Thats what they call a floating brake

It's normal. Mine has been that way since I wheeled off the dealer's showroom floor.
