YZ426 Damper Rod Coating Scratched

Question:
Once scratched, will the low-friction coating begin to flake off the aluminum damper rod as the scratch rubs against the bushing in the top of the cartridge? (The scratches are in the coating only not down into the aluminum damper rod. )

While removing the cartridge cylinder head I accidently put a scratch on my damper rod coating about 8" into the stroke. (I should have bottomed the rods all the way into the cartridge so the coating was protected!@#$).

I'm freak'n because you can't replace the damper rods without buying the complete cartridge assembly.
