I just bought a 99 YZ80. I checked the coolant and it seems to be dark/rusty looking and is a little slick. I am pretty new to bikes in general (been away for 17 years). What color should two stroke coolant be?

Also, anyone know the capacities for a 99 YZ80?

One last question, what is the best coolant to buy for these?

Thanks.

Any color anti-freeze formulated for ALUMINUM engines will be fine. Run 50-50 with DISTILLED water.

Sounds like somebody used tap water in the cooling system.

Did ya go to prision or something when you were 7?

Green is a good color for coolant. Try using a coolant that is good for the environment if you can. The "Sierra" brand name is propylene glycol (PG) antifreeze. Every other brand of antifreeze contains ethylene glycol (EG) which is much more poisionus than the PG.

Of course I run my bike dry, no coolant at all.

however EG cools better than PG...according to DOW anyways. I also like to add a capful of redline water wetter.
