Monster Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac has won the opening MXGP moto with a holeshot and lonely ride up front. The AMA 450 champion was back to his best form and he completely controlled the race from start to finish.
“Its really hot and humid right now, and the track is really getting nice. We struggled with our set-ups but have it sorted now. I hope we can do the same in the second moto.”
Tomac takes the holeshot, with Gajser, Nagl, Barcia, Febvre, Jasikonis, Coldenhoff, Cairoli, Paulin and Desalle, Herlings 15th.
After a lap and Tomac leads by two seconds, then Gajser, Nagl, Jasikonis, Barcia, Desalle, Coldenhoff, Paulin, Herlings and Cairoli 10th.
Cairoli into sixth place and going after Barcia, Herlings struggling a little in 8th place, but then gets finds some speed and goes past Desalle and moves into fifth place and is right onto Cairoli.
After two laps the lead is six seconds for Tomac, then Gajser, Nagl, Cairoli and Herlings. Tomac made a mistake and lost a second. Herlings passed Cairoli and into …
