  • It is cool to see which rider prefers the things that you as a rider like, like the rubber boot on the shifter end of Craig’s bike, also the level, his is much lower compared to the others. When you grew up doing your own wrenching while racing you learn more about each little thing that you can do different on your bike by seeing the factory bikes, so getting to see up close each one of these bikes is a real treat thx RacerX n Ping. Notice what looked like a heat-thermal coating on the KTM cylinders too, Kawasaki had huge cylinder bolts too. Suzuki hubs were smaller, got to love that Titanium. Nothing like those PC Kawasaki so much more work, even green coating on the rear shock shaft. Also looks like KTM uses more stock parts, oh also the huge counter-shaft sprocket on the Yamaha w/o holes drilled Titanium? Renegade fuels for Honda, I bet Honda has a secret mixture. Also Honda’s front fender has more holes for cooling maybe they need custom radiators like PC Kawasaki. Big thumbs up Ping for the extra insight !!! Oh another thing I noticed the Yamaha had the inside links on the chain drilled super trick there.

  • Ping stated that the holes drilled in the chain roller were used for a different feel when the shock was deeper in the stroke. I do not believe that since the chain will not be in contact with the roller in the deeper stroke of the shock, so how can it be compressed if it doesn’t touch it ? Only when the shock is at full lift does the chain compress on the roller.
    Anything that spins creates weight mass and then you have drag on the chain which then creates drag on the engine. Like drilling the inner chain links making the overall weight of the chain lighter therefore freeing up horsepower. Put steel sprockets on your dirt bike and go ride then switch to aluminum it makes a huge difference. I remember when I bought a wreaked Ducati that had Magnesium rims and I switched them to my race bike, it made a world of difference not just in acceleration but going from side to side switch up in the corners was a whole new world on the track. After that I looked at everything in a different way, if it spins it needs to be as light as it can be.

  • Im surprised that nobody is using any grip for the sides of the bikes. I remember when you used to see grip tape on the sides of bike all the time. I tried it one time and loved it but it was destroying my moto pants. I found Stomp grip since then and cant ride without it now. I feel like my bike is like slippery butter without the Stomp grip on it.
