I have a 1986 KDX 200 and all of the original cylinder rubber dampners are gone. A suggestion from a friend was to cut up pieces of fuel line or other rubber tubing and insert them into the fins to reduce engine noise. Has anyone tried this or a similiar solution? Thanks

You can also cut knobs off of a used knobby with a razor saw, but it won't look as clean as what Bultaco4ever did. Small knobs like from a front tire are not too hard to cut.

Rubber plugs in the cylinder and head fins will absolutely make an air cooled bike quieter and more pleasing to the ear, but don't expect miracles.
