[QUOTE="yzjedi, post: 1165290, member: 31450"] Jeremy: Wondered if you have heard of a seal gone bad. Showa '04 CRF450, it's the seal in the fork cap, or bolt assembly, as the parts book has it listed. It is actually inside the bushing or slider below the short spring in the cap. Honda does not even have this part listed and suggests replacing the whole cap assembly.....51450-MEN-003. The shop I go to has never seen this fail in 12+ years of doing this. I thought I was going nuts, because the magic the fork had was not there anymore..... and I kept hearing this knock or clanking sound going into a corner..... I didn't think it was the brake line, but was definitely coming from the front end. Fluid was just blowing by this seal and up into the cap, the rod would not slide out when pushed in, like it should. The seal was as hard as a rock, breaking a metal pick trying to pry it out. Factory Connection whose name will not be repeated, said that they have seen a recent increase in this type of failure...... so ...???? Heads up.... I guess this is not something regularly checked.
