which is better and why? i have 12/47 now. i have heard that 13/50 will have the same low end pull, plus have more overall "power". anybody agree or disagree. I do not care what length chain I have to buy. the lowest first gear pull is the most important factor for where I ride. Should I just stay with what I am running now? thanks.

Well I wouldn't say the exact same thing, but darn close. If you divide 12/47 you will get 3.92 and 13/50 you get 3.85. So it would seem the 12/47 would be just a bit lower providing more power down low. Very slight difference though. I'm not sure if there are any other advantages to the bigger sprocket anyone? Maybe the chain haviing less effect on the rear suspension? I've heard of pros using bigger front sprockets for that effect I think?

Using smaller than a 13 tooth cs sprocket puts more stress on the chain so I'd go with the 13/50 combo. Thats what I use for the small motocross course I practice and race on. Its good also for hillclimbing. Otherwise go smaller on the rear sprocket but no smaller than 48.

I agree with Jaguar. 12 tooth CS's eat chains too fast. Personally, I'd like to go to a 14, but my 47 rear is in to good a shape.

thanks guys. i guess wear and tear on the chain is the issue. somebody told me that the bike would be a lot faster with 13/50. i am happy with my 12/47 setup now.
