91KDX: I'm almost in the same position as you, except I plan on going to USMC Officer Candidate School(OCS) in summer '07. So I have a little more time than you. You might check out this page, I know it applies to OCS, but if you could build up to this, than TBS shouldn't be much of a problem for you. The more you run, the better off you'll be for Basic. http://www.ocs.usmc.mil/New_Web_Format/Candidate_Information/Candidate%20Prep.htm As stated above, I've started training in prep. for USMC OCS next summer. I quit smoking on saturday, for good this time, and haven't really had a craving yet. I've got a year to be able to do at least 20 pull-ups, 100 crunches in a minute or less, and I'm setting a goal for a 20 minute or less 3-mile run. In order to meet these goals, especially the 3-mile run, I know that I'm really going to have to bust-ass and start working out for real. I plan to start lifting every other day with a goal of building muscle mass and endurance. I also plan on running at least every other day. The running is going to be the hardest part for me, I never have been a runner. I've never liked running, and I don't think that it likes me. I'm not really concerned with losing any weight, I figure if I'm working out as hard as I need to be, it will do it's thing and get lost. If my body isin't hurting tomorrow, I'm going to get a baseline for my pull-ups, crunches, and *GULP* 3-mile run.
