I want to get into motocross but, I was wondering if someone could tell me what a good first bike would be? I dont have a ton of money to spend but I dont want a total peice of crap. Can someone help me?
A good first bike for a budget is any used bike that is:
1.affordable to you
2.not a basket case, unless you are very mechanically inclined
3.strikes you as a good value for the money
4.a brand that has the availability of a good local shop or dealer
5.not more bike than you can handle, such as a 130 lb beginner buying a KX 500
6. suited for the intended riding type you want to do, such as an MX bike for moto, or a woods bike for trails. Despite what people will tell you, an XR 200 does not do motocross well, and will either break or get you hurt.
7.did I say affordable to you?
Don't choose a bike by brand, choose it by value for the money. Any late '80s and up dirtbike can be an excellent machine that will give you a lot of enjoyment.
