I am trying to find a cam for my '84 Honda xr 250r as one of the tabs that the timing sprocket bolts to broke off. To buy one locally will be $300. I found one online for a lot less, will a cam from a '95 fit my '84? I know that Honda had the exact same design for a long time but was wondering if this is too big of a stretch and the cam changed over that time period? Thanks for any insight!

Looks like it just might work. I checked out Honda parts fiche and it looks like part#14100-KT1-010 is a cam that works from 84 to 95. Sevice Honda price is $119 thats not to bad. But check it out for yourself before you buy.

Web Cams lists a shaft for 84-95, same part number.

Unless it's significantly cheaper than the Service price I'd buy from them. That way you KNOW what you're getting. You can even call them, I'm sure they will know for sure if it will work.

Thanks, that service honda looks like a very useful site, kinda like bikebandit but service actually has all the parts, even for older bikes.
