I live in Calgary, and I Just picked up a used 2001 KDX 220. The bike seems to be running very rich.
The plug was black and the exhaust drips oil. The bike has been operated at altitudes from 3500-7000 ft. Carb settings are 140 main, 42 pilot and second clip from the top. Any suggestions for jetting. The bike is completely stock.

Are you sure the guy was using quality engine oil at no heavier a ratio than 32:1 ? Did the guy ever clean the air filter?
If he wasn't overdoing it on the oil or neglecting his cleaning responsibilities then I'd raise the needle clip and ride it and then raise it again and then ride it. Then choose the correct position for the clip according to which setting gave the most power.
