I'm thinking about buying a '99 KTM 380 SX. I'm just back to riding after a long break. I don't seem to have a problem with most of the Jap. 250's, and was wondering if the 380 would be way too much. Most of my riding is between hair scramble type stuff to semi-motorcross (large tabletop, 30ft doubles, ...). So, do you think this would be way too much? How does the power delivery compare with the Jap. bikes? (more linear, not as much mid-range hit,..)

Thanks in advance,

woohooo

great analogy JMD! :p
the 380s have awesome power.. now that ive been riding my 380 when i hopped on my buddies brand new (leftover) 01 CR250 last week it felt like i was riding a 125!!!!
It might be a little much for tight trails.. but anywhere thats wide open you cant beat it! :scream:

The power is very linear and tractable. Any good 250 rider will have no problem adjusting to the 380. It has such great low end power that you can run a gear high and still go fast while lugging it around the track. Beginners and novices might think it's too much but experienced riders love them.

Most of the time too much power is better than not enough, right?:)
