Hello everyone. I am a 52-year-old chemistry professor from the University of Delaware. My street bike is a 2001 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Classic. I joined this forum because I also have a 1984 Honda XL350R street-legal "Dual Sport" in excellent condition. I grew up in the farmlands of Lancaster County riding dirt bikes and hill climbing. My first bike was a 70-cc Honda CT70 (about 1976). I bought my XL350R when I lived in Salt Lake City in about 1998 with only about 2,500 miles on it, and I used it to commute when the weather was ok. I moved to PA in 2001. A good friend sold me his 2001 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Classic (red & cream) when he moved from NY to CA in about 2006. It has only 4,200 miles and is in mint condition. While recuperating from cancer over the Winter of 2012-2013, I started to dig in and learn about these bikes and their maintenance from the Clymer manuals and online. I was pleased to learn about the large, friendly and vibrant community of V-Star 1100 riders, and I hope to find at least a few XL350 owners on this forum. I am a tinkerer/DIY guy, and I like making modifications and working on my bikes almost as much as I like getting out and riding them. I haven't learned of any local XL350 owners or V-Star 1100 owners in my area (Landenberg, PA, 19350; in the extreme SE corner of PA less than a few hundred meters from the border with Delaware). If you're out there, please let me know. Thanks, Tom (tpbeebejr)
