I was wondering what's the best way to polish a rim. I have a buffer wheel and 2 different compounds, one is a white bar, and the other is a blackish gray one. I used both and none seem to be very effective, I can get the rim to shine like a mirror but it takes me almost 20 minutes to get a 2-3 inch strip to shine. . I think that I might be missing a step before this.

Brave soul polishing rims. I did all my street dirt frames/swingarms, but rims scare me. I used wet/dry sandpaper starting about 400 grit to 2000 grit, then polished by hand with Mother's Aluminum polish. If it's a newer bike with smoothish rims, try 1500 grit or 2000 and then hit it with mothers.

Good luck!
