PW80 using YZ80 CDI ?

Hi there, I've got an old PW80 from 1995 and wanted to try a different CDI to get round the restriction with the current CDI. I bought a 1984 YZ80 model and was hoping to fit this - but will my PW80 go 'BANG' ??!! (There is an extra wire on thi CDI...which I'm presuming is used for some other CDI magneto function - as I currently only have two wires going to my current CDI. Any suggestions?
Has anyone any experience of mix-matching CDIs out there?

WTF is all I have to say. But do what you want. Never wanted to make my PW 80 go fast when I had it.

I understand where you're coming from, but it's fun trying to squeeze...i dunno what......out of this 'stone' of an engine. Sure, dumping the lump and upgrading to a KX65 / YZ85 etc is the obvious 'tuning' route - but you've got to give it a go, surely....?
