Rattling Springs - Jeremy

Jeremy,

I just had my WP forks redone (the second time) on my 99 KTM 250EXC. This time my local tuner replaced the stock 40Kg springs with 42Kg (I weigh 145lbs and ride Enduro and Mountain Trails). The springs he used were longer than OEM, he said KTM uses a shorter spring with a spacer. No problem, My question is that when I move the forks around I hear the springs rattling inside. I haven't installed them back on the bike and wonder if that's O.K. They never did this before. I’m pumped to give them a try but was concerned with that rattling…

Thanks for you time!

Storm Dog,
Don't worry about it.. Most springs will "rattle" side to side. The spring can't "size on size" in a fork tube. So to allow movment the spring is slightly undersized. When you bounce your fork you here this space being reocupied.

No woories..

Regards,
Jer
