If the pipe continues to glow while riding the bike, your exhaust valves could be leaking. When was the last time you checked your valve clearance? Are they the original valves? If it were my bike, the first thing I would do is try the fuel screw adjustment. Then check the valve clearance. Then do a compression or leak-down test to determine the condition of your rings and valves. The tip-off is your statement that it heats up in 'seconds'.
