depends............doesn't it always? 2001 is supposed to have the motor and 2002 the chassis. Thankfully the 2002 up motor resonds well to mods

I had an '00 and now have an '05. The '00 was the same frame as the '01; I never rode an '01 but I understand the motors were similar, with the '01 having a bit more mid and up punch. I liked the '00 and was very satisfied with the way it performed (after the suspension re-valve).

Compared to my '00, the '05 is better in every way. It's faster, lighter, handles better and the suspension is worlds better (even though I had Factory Connection revalve the forks and shock on the '00).

I can't speak for the '02-04s because I never rode one, but I love my '05.

In 02 they went to a electronically actuated power valve. They also brought back the case reed intake. Also a new narrower frame. They look quite a bit different. But to tell you the truth, I have rode them back to back and once your pounding laps out there are not great noticable differences. They felt very very similar.

There are a bunch more differences between the two aside from what i mentioned. But as I said, if both are in good or new condition the 02 is not going to feel or act much different.
