MY CR250's shock seal leaked last winter when I first got it, but it cleared up after the weather got warmer. Now it's cold again and it leaks more than last year. I have no clue about servicing shocks so I'm definately not going to do that part myself. Does the film thing work for shocks like it does with forks? I'm doubtful but it can't hurt to ask.
Buzz Bomb,
The cold temp failure is very comon on Showa shocks. The film trick won't work on a shock! The cause for failure is very diffrent!
The best longterm solution is use a shock seal that implaments a ****ring. Most good suspension companies realized a long time ago that the European shock companies had a leg up with this design.
