01' RM250 or 04/05 RM?

I know that is kinda dumb question but I have a 01' RM with less than ten hours on it. It was new last spring and is in excellent shape. I was just curious if the 01's Powerband could be altered by Eric to be smoother like the newer RM's. I have a flywheel on mine but the midrange hit needs to be tamed down. It's basically a new bike and I probably wouldn't notice the upgraded suspension anyway. I trail ride singletrack trails and practice days only on MX tracks. Just curious how the two bikes compare. From what I've read in magazines the suspension and motors are the real updates between the two. I've been meaning to pull the cylinder when I get a spare moment to send it to eric but haven't gotten around to it. My bike doesn't start worth a poop either. I haven't checked the reeds yet but it seems like I have to lean it over a few times and kick a little if it has been sitting a couple weeks. I'm running a 42pilot instead of the 48 and did the .5mm slide cut mod with a 162main jet so nothing is crazy with the jetting. I have to lean it over until gas runs out then rock back and forth, then kick a few times and repeat until it starts. Kinda like the choke isn't doing much. Day to day it starts great but my job often makes it sit a month between riding. Just kicking around the ideas of a new bike that I don't need since a weekend on a new bike would have more hours than my old bike.

Does your bike have an external power valve adjuster? You can smooth the hit with that.

i used a power valve spacer it helped out with the hit and was easy to install worth the money i think.

I thought about the pilot being to lean but I haven't had a chance to experiment with it. With the 48 it seemed to cold foul plugs but maybe a 1mm slide cut and back to the 48 or even a 45 it might help out? It runs much cleaner with the 42 pilot. Any thoughts on how many kicks it should take to start a bike that's been sitting a couple weeks? I've had some that fire right up and others that act like this one. I had a atk406 that acted just like this bike but it had a fixed pilot jet and no matter what I did it was a ritual to get fresh gas in the bowl by leaning it over. Thanks for the info on the powervalve.

My 03'' smacks you in the face.. You could adjust the powervale or gear it up... best bet is to send it out to eric...
