I tore down the forks on my CRF for the first time last night to do the fork seals. The only question I had was during assembly when I went to install the rebound adjuster on the damper rod. With the jam nut threaded all the way on, I screwed the rebound adjuster as far as it would go, then backed the jamnut down to it (1-2mm) and torqued to spec. I did keep the adjuster all the way out. Is this the correct method?

Overall it seemed like an easy fork to work on, I like that it has several large pieces, but not to many small parts to keep up with or tricky measurements to take.

You did fine. The only thing I would recommend is when you change the inner cartridge oil be sure to check the rebound/midvalve piston nut. Most every '02 CR & CRF set of forks I've done has had 1 or both loose.

I recently had these revalved by a reputable tuner (Marshall Plumb) who I trust corrected that. Thanks for the reminder though I'll be sure and keep an eye on it next time I've got them open.
