so yesterday I picked up a 02 yz250 (cheap). it has lots of issues but it was still cheap.... the previous owner seized the engine. I tore it down last night and today tried to clean some of the deposited Al out of the cyl. well needless to say the plating was worn off the around the intake ant exhaust ports and there is a small gouge on the exh side, in line w/ the ring gap.....so now i'm trying to decide, would it be better to have it plated or spend the extra $100 and just buy a new cylinder

Well, if it costs just an extra 100$, I would just go with the new Cylinder, then you know nothing else could be wrong with the cyclinder.

well the new cyl is 260 -280 + shipping and the replate is 165-180 (if the scoring is not too deep)+ shipping both ways. i'm leaning toward new...unless someone can tell me that i'm wasting the $100 by getting the new cyl.

anyone have a opnion
