05 Cr125r fouling plugs

I just got this bike about 6 months ago for my brother, but every time I take it out I foul out a plug in under an hour. The dealership told me to mix 50:1 and it will save my plug longer, but it doesn't work, I am always on the throttle and it stills dies, is there something I can do to extend the life of these plugs?

i wouldnt run 50:1 cuz with them telling you that it just means they want u back to buy a new top end soon. u should run 32:1 and adjust ur jetting in ur carb

is it more of a trial and error thing with the jetting or is there a specific adjustment?

Go down one size on your pilot jet. Leave your mixture at 32:1. Tell your dealer they are clueless.

i run 40:1 on my 125, and it runs very well. running 32:1 fills your bike with more oil than mixing at 40 or 50:1, which will make your bike more prone to fouling. jetting the bike is the best you can do for it right now. i had the same problem a year ago with my 125. i had to rebuild the top-end and rejet the bike, after that, the bike ran perfect.

Yep, I always ran 40:1 when I had two strokes as well. All I was telling him was that it was the jetting, not the oil, that is fouling his plugs. 40:1 will work well too. Go down on that pilot jet and life will be good. :nod:

yep, the pilot jet( or sometimes called small or secondary jet), will help you out. it allows a certain amount of oil into your cylinder, dropping the size will allow less oil to get to your plug. i also messed with the air screw and the main jet, the air screw is very simple, just requires a screw driver. do that and the pilot jet first, that should fix it. also make sure to mix the proper oil in your gas. i run Maxima SuperM 2 smoke racing oil. almost all my oil ends up burned, not dripping out of my silencer ;) .

I have to double check my friend's '06 got like a one size leaner pilot I know the needle is leaner at least in the #2 clip position went up like one on the main size. It's still alittle rich mixed at 50:1 with 927! it doesn't foul out definetly not within an hour of ridding. Run on stock plugs also. Check the float hieght I think it could be off on some of the bikes. My friend is on his 3rd piston now and they look good at 50:1 definetly no abnormal or increased wear. easy 40 hrs on them.
