125 or 250 2-stroke

I have had a 250 2 stroke before so I am used to the power, however I did not get to ride it many times so my cornering still aint the best.

I want to get another bike to use down the local track and race.

There is a boy down the track just starting on a 125 and it seems to be a lot easier to throw over jumps.

But I want 250cc power.

However i want to race (amatuer), can you start racing straight away on a 250??

Will a RM250/YZ250 be good for me??
