Doubt Honda or Suzuki will, they don't seem to be doing much of anything with the 2 strokes, releasing a new model is probably out of the question. Never know what Yamaha will do.

There's a proposal being put to the AMA for a new Amateur class structure for next season as follows -
100-144cc 2 or 4 stroke(call it 125 if you want)
145-250cc 2 or 4 stroke
251-650cc 2 or 4 stroke
Add a 2-stroke only class

Apparently a similar structure got quite a bit of support last year, if it were to get through I'd assume the other manufacturers would start producing 144s instead of the 125s. But who knows really...

You can email your support for this class structure to the following addresses - [email protected] & [email protected]. They will be be bringing it to the AMA congress for submission in a couple of months time.

May seem stupid but I'm not sure I understand your 2 or 4 stroke thing. You mean that (lets pick the 100-144cc class) 2 strokes ranging from 100 to 144cc will race with the 4 stroke 250's? and 2 strokes ranging from 145 to 250cc will race with 450F?
Thanks

What hes trying to say is 100-144cc 2stroke or 4stroke. Not 4 strokes 250's four strokes in the range of 100-144cc.

Why ignore KTM? I've heard great things about them!

The total number of bikes KTM sells is less than than the number of TTR125s Yamaha sells each year. KTM is in a good position to go after a niche market like factory 144s, and the Japanese companies probably couldn't care less.

how about if you want to race a four stroke you race a 250 in the 250 class or a 450 in the open class? Really no comparison a 250 four stroke in the 125 class. That's like I'll race your Yugo against my Ferrari for pink slips! They should have kept the cc limitations on racing to let the less monetarily gifted people have a fighting chance at any race.

Yes Kevin003, that's what the classes mean. They're not my suggestion or anything, I just copied and pasted it from somewhere else. It was an AMA congressman who posted it originally.
