1970 ct70 question

not sure if this goes here

but i have an old ct70 and it will not kickstart it will sometimes but it will bumpstart but that still takes a while ive changed the sparkplug cleaned the carb numerous times same with the aircleaner but what could be wrong the points what?

low compression. needs rings or piston and rings.

point gap could be too small.

check these first.

okay its got 100+ compression im not sure how much 4 strokes are supposed to have?

about 120 fresh. ours was still running at 60... how about the point gap. don't remember off the top but I thinnk its about .016" the thickness of a matchbook.

After kicking a bunch and not getting it started is the plug wet? maybe its taking a long while to get fuel. Your choking it right?

yah we do choke it then it will fire 2 times then it wont anymore and we will need ot choke it like it fires but wont run

have you pulled and cleaned the carb. if it starts with the choke on and then dies you have spark and compression. sounds like your just not getting fuel. float stuck or needle valve plugged just barely getting fuel

lol yah thats what we were thinking but it never fires on choke only without and it will only fire not run...

i have an idea of what's wrong. it's happening to my bike right now to try getting a new coil for it.

Have you done a really really good carb clean. Also do you have a manual for it. Your idle screw might not be set right.
