I just bought a 1985 CR250 a few weeks ago and am in the process of cleaning it up and getting it running. I just get it running pretty good by replacing the spark, coil, and cleaning the carb, but it will not idle at all. Once the bike idles down off of a rev, it dies right out if i do not hold the throttle in. It doesnt matter if i have the choke pulled up or not, the bike still dies. I tried turning the choke clockwise and counterclockwise and still have not received any positive results in getting the bike to idle higher. Can someone please help me out with my problem?

2-strokes usually won't keep an idle for long, thats just the way it is. But did you adjust the idle screw? Its a small screw sticking out of the card (dont know where it is on your bike)

And how long does it idle for.. like 3-5sec, or just die?

once i let go of the clutch it dies within a few seconds, but it will not idle at all. as soon as the clutch is released, it putters down to a fast death
