Ok, I need to know if it is in the relm of possibility to replace the engine in a 1990 KTM 300 EXC! I know that it is 'possible' but I mean, do you think I will ever be able to find one?
I am actully posting this for my husband, he's at work, I am the computer nut - so I'm here, lol!
You see, he got the bike from a friend a year ago, the friend had blown the engine, and decided to just buy a new KTM since he had been wanting one for a while. Eric, my husband, built a shed for him in his back yard, and for payment - got the bike and all the parts to fix it - new.
Problem was aparently one of the gears that wasn't replaced must have had a hairline crack, though not visible to the eye, and once it was on the road for about a month, it went and of course took out a bunch of other stuff too!
So now, Eric is thinking of just getting a whole new engine instead of doing the rebuild thing again - if it is possible.
So, what do you all think?
Thanks for the input!

Well, look for a used bike of the same size and year rather than just an engine. I bet you find one, but it might take a while. Try newspapers in big cities. Pretty cheap I expect.

For just parts try holeshotktm.com . They seem to be able to get anything that can be gotten.

Good luck.
