Seem's way to high to me. Earlier this year, I was priced a 01 KX250 (in what appeared to be good shape from a stealer) for $2250 USD. I think you can do better, look around, you'll find a good deal.

You'll never get the same kind of deal as they get in the USA, bikes seem to be higher priced (even after you consider the exchange rate) than south of the border. That said, I would keep looking. Sometimes you can find a deal, or atleast a pretty fair price. If that 90 YZ125 is in excellent condition besides needing a top end, it would be a good deal, otherwise it'll just be a headache.

In my area of Canada pretty much any dirt bike that runs decent regardless of vintage is worth a minimum of 1K, since it isn't running I would low ball him if you want a project type bike. Keep in mind that parts and repairs add up in a real hurry and you could easily end up dumping $500 plus into this 15 year old bike. What is your budget? if you can go up to $2500 you should be able to find a half decent late 90's 125/250. For reference I just picked up an 02 RM250 and could have had my choice of 5 different 02's (not all RM's) for between $3500 and $4000. Before someone south of the border jumps in with the "those prices are way too high" all prices quoted in Canadian $.
