I found a real good deal on a 99 KX250 $2000. I'm going to look at it tomorrow. The owner says it's in great condition but we'll see.
Does anyone ride a 99 and what can you tell me about it,power handling, problems. My dualsport and trail wants and needs are covered but I would like a good track bike as well.Ant help would be appreciated!

You'll probably like the suspension better if you switch to straight rate springs. I know it made a world of difference on my 98.

I have a 98 and a buddy of mine has a 99. I have spent a lot of time on them both so here goes. They are both stable well suspended bikes. A little on the soft side for pure moto but a nice all around package. The 99 just had a fork revalve and it is a definate moto improvement but for trails I am undecided which I like best. My 98's motor hits harder while the 99 is smoother. This can be a good or bad thing depends on what you like. After spending so much time on my 98 I tend to like the hit, but they are both fast. I see that you have a KDX220. I had a 200 before this and it probably took me 3 months to get used to the difference in power between the KDX and KX so I doubt that you would be disappointed with it. If you think that the bike is in good condition, $2000 sounds like a really good price. I think that you will like it. Hope this helps you out.

I just bought a 99 a few months ago. Awesome bike. I really like the motor. It's smooth, but has more than enough power. Plenty down low where I like it. The suspension needs some work (trails) but when I've ridden it on the track, it felt great.

Thanks for the replys but I didn't move fast enough.I went to the bank today, got the cash and called to look at it today. He said" it's being sold as we speak".Damn! The smooth motor of the 99 is the type I like.I have owned a few 250 MX bikes but they were not as much fun on the mountain and desert trails as the KDX.In turn the KDX six speed gearbox is a drag on the track. To much shifting.Even my upgraded KDX suspension is still a bit soft for MX. Good deals come up all the time ,just got to keep my eyes open. Thanks again :whiner: .
