Hi Rich,
Another oil question for you. Are you better off using a full Synthetic 2 Cycle oil such as a Maxima K2 versus the Castor 927? Does the type of riding, moto versus woods or even the bike make a difference. What are the advantages of a full Synthetic, would it burn cleaner or protect better?

As always thanks for you time.

Big loads and LOTS of heat are needed to hit the sweet spot for Castor 927. You are much better off using one of the Maxima synthetics, and the one you choose should reflect the type of riding you do. Picking a "racing" specific oil if you are a woods rider isn't a good idea .

Maxima has a lot of good info on their website that will help you pick an appropriate oil for your application.

Rich, to go along with what you were saying. K2 has a flash point of 240F verus the castor 927 which is 420F. So as you were saying you would need alot more heat to get the 420 to the sweet spot? So a oil such as K2 or even Super M with a flash point of 280 would be a much better choice for the woods riding I do. Am I on the right track?

Flash point is a TOTALLY irrelevant spec unless you are a truck driver transporting 55 gallon drums of the stuff. :)

Super M is probably a better choice for lower speed woods work for reasons that have nothing to do with flash point. ;)
