"3 mos. or 3000 miles, whichever comes first. "

I think Jiffy lube came up with this one. Like oil expires in 3 mos.??? Did they add dairy products to it?? I've never understood that 3 month date for auto oil, but if anyone has any insight to it, please explain.

It should be fine if sealed, like above post stated, in my opinion. What brand is it ?

The "3 months" bit is for oil in your car, not in a bottle.

Yeah.. without the 3 month deal, people would think that idling the car for a year straight without an oil change is ok, because they didn't put the 3000 miles on it.

I wouldn't use 20 year old 2 stroke oil, but a few years shouldn't be a problem.

Oil has no expiration on it as long as it has not been opened. If it has been opened, it isn't nececcarily bad as long as you keep it closed and sealed up tight.

There is a chance that the additive package could separate from the oil after a long time, so make sure you shake it well before you use it.

Another item to consider is that oil additive technology isn't a static science, meaning newer products more than likely have different additive technologies and could perform better than a product from years ago.

Just more food for thought.
