Hello
A couple of questions pertaining to my 2000 RM80:

1) What is the purpose of the "knurled" screw on the side of the carb that has the adjustable nut? I believe the schematic calls it "throttle stop adjuster". What exactly is it for and how should it be set to factory settings?

2) Is it possible that a rich running condition (air/fuel) could cause a severe bog when going from idle to full throttle - such as when trying to pull a wheelie from a stand still?

Thanks for the help

I am assuming it is running rich as there is some gas coming from the exhaust pipe where it goes into the engine - black spooge...

Would fuel oil ratio make any difference? The PO of the bike raced it and ran 40:1 with a race pipe and silencer. I put the stock pipe back on and mixed at 20:1 per the owners manual.

Then i dikked around with the idle screw and the air screw to get it to idle.

And there you have it friends - how to mess things up :bang:

Thanks

The choice to run more oil in the fuel isn't a bad one. However, you'll need to rejet it to get it running right. It's a good thing to know how to do. I didn't look but Id bet Indy's link has some good jetting info. Let us know how you make out!
