2001 rm125 powervalve rod failure!

i noticed that past chatter was here at the dirtrider forums about this issue.i too have this problem, i heard the 2002 was a good replacement.i started looking online at microfiche's on ronayers com and they are both the same part! has anyone figured this out? please help me!

Suzuki may have realized the same thing and discontinued the 2001 part and replaced it with the 2002 part.

thats a good idea! but it looks the same as the one that came out of the bike i think

Has happened twice on our 98............did the valve walk out into the piston?

no, i caught it before any major damage. the rod was connected on the bottom. just on the top to the powervalve.

The problem with the linkage arm from '01 vs '02 is the '01 was alittle to long and it had plastic clips holding it in a few spots. Over time it could slope out in the plastic clips and then the arm it's self could come into contact with the water pumper gears break off and do all kinds of great things in there.

The '02 is an upgraded part the linkage was shorter more direct path and it no longer had the plastic clips. It wouldn't surprize me if suzuki just upgraded the parts diagrams.

yea i figured that also but the one i pulled out of my 2001 looks just like the part diagrams for the 01/02 on any web fiche i go to.
maybe its different but im holding the thing up to the screen and it looks identical. although i dont have the bottom platic clip, im sure the trans ate that for lunch

ok im a complete idiot! i think i got this figured out! ronayers diagram has 2 rods next to eachother i dont know what i was looking at but mine is on the left (#32) and it looks like the "NEW" one is on the right (#23) im going to try the (#23). i hope it works.
