2001 vs. 2002+ CR500AF?

Is there a big performance diffence in the handling/suspension between an '01 model and a '02 CR500AF given the difference in frames? I have a chance to get a '01 for a good price, and was wondering how much perfomance would be given up to the newer frame design?

i thought the 02 had a much better frame but for the right price i would still get the 01 i think the 02 had a more forgiving frame meaning less ridged and turned better also.......but the question is will YOU be able to tell the differance

I rode a 2000 and a 2002 at a track here in Phoenix before I dropped the money down for a new 2005. The bikes were set up about the same. Both guys were pretty heavy and both guys rode MX tracks but they didn't race. They had these bikes for fun. I liked the 2002 the best. It just felt lighter, smoother, better balanced. If your only going to pleasure ride just make sure you get a good deal on a bike that has been well maintained and you will be happy.
