Gents,
I'm more familiar with KX's than I care to be, but not YZ's. A buddy I ride with took a fall during a race, and a short dirt nap. After retrieving him and the bike, we found that the engine would not turn over. Lucky for him this was the reason for the fall, and not his riding capabilities! Tearing down the engine revealed a severely scored cylinder, and a corner of the piston chunked away. The question is this. Since we have to do cylinder work anyway, is a port, repair, and replate for the current 01 cylinder appropriate, or will a cylinder from another year provide better power, etc. if a new one is ordered from Yamaha? I searched here, and checked Eric's latest book (lists up to 2k) . Any suggestions are appreciated, and thanks in advance.
