Hey guys,

I just came off about a 5 year break from riding. I bought a 2002 Suzuki RM 250 this weekend and was dying to try it out at the 500 (local riding area). The bike starts easy and runs great except for one problem. The hose at the base of the Keihin carb streams fuel non-stop! I thought that the drain screw was open so I tightened it up but the fuel just keeps streaming.

I don't what the problem is....any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike

More than likely the float is stuck - you probably have dirt in the float bowl. Happened to me about 2 months ago.

Take the carb off, remove the bowl off the bottom and clean it out. As long as you have it off, clean the whole thing - take the jets out and everything.

also your float might be adjusted wrong, aside form being dirty. Your manual, or call a dealer to find how high it should sit when you tunr it upside down. If you float sits too low, it will over flow with gas and spit out of the hose like you said, if it sits to high, it wont let gas in cause its thinks its full

I just had this problem. I took apart my carb and used carb cleaner to spray everything down. I didn't actually see anything that was making it stick but when I put it back together it didn't leak any more.

Mine was after draining and cleaning the tank and switching to race gas. Apparently the empty float got stuck . . . it worked itself out without cleaning the carb, but I ended up having to clean it a couple days later anyway because the slow jet was plugged. :(

Hey guys Thanks for all the input. It was a big help. I pulled it apart and cleaned and cheked the adjustment but it turns out my float valve is bad....and none of the local shops have a replacement. Looks like it will be Tuesday before I can get out and ride.

Thanks again for all the help. You guys really got me headed in the right direction.
